Computer

The computer is a basic low-end box cobbled from parts I had laying around. It might not run the new-and-best games with those CHDs, but for my 80'ies favourites, it is still fast enough.
The specs are:
  • ECS K7SOM MicroATX mainboard, with sound and LAN (and a whole lot of other stuff) on-board
  • Athlon XP 2000 Processor
  • 256 MB of PC-266 DDR Ram
  • IBM 120 GB Death^H^H^H^Hesk-star Harddisk. If it dies I'll just reinstall the box from backups ;-)
  • a set of el-cheapo boxes. Again, for the 80'ies stuff, that is just enough
  • a somewhat ugly MIDI tower case

Keyboard Interface

Like a lot of other people, I used an I-Pac 2 to connect my console to the computer.
Attached to the USB port, it gets detected as an secondary HID keyboard on my Linux box.
I have the LED Harness too, but still haven't found a good place on my control panel to put them on.

Other stuff

Stuff that I'd like to get working one day include:
  • A motor interface to automatically rotate my monitor
  • An announciator board with LEDs for Dragon's Lair / Space Ace
  • Maybe just an LCD kit if the announciator board proves too troublesome to build
  • ...
